This extended and more detailed workshop shows you how to collect seaweeds from the beach and then how to press them into beautiful art pieces.
This is a fabulous way to gain experience on how to forage for seaweeds with this hands-on workshop. We will meet at 9am at a local beach, and I will guide you through the process of foraging your seaweeds. After about an hour we will head back to the ‘Seaweed Studio’ for refreshments and I will demonstrate how to press the seaweeds, with plenty of time for questions. We will also learn about the natural history of seaweeds and their importance in our marine ecosystems and carbon capture. You will create your own 3 seaweed pressings to take home. The rest of the process in completed at home and you will require some newspaper and heavy books for this!

All materials will be provided. Refreshments/tea and coffee will be served. The workshop takes place in my studio in Sherford, Kingsbridge, Devon. Parking provided. More details will be sent on booking.
Please note, we will meet at a designated beach at 9 am on 25th April, as this is low tide. I will email you the location on confirmation of booking but it will be within 15 minutes of Sherford. The location will depend on the weather and seaweed availability at this time of year. I can’t guarantee that the beach will have lots of different seaweeds but I will make sure we have plenty back at the studio just in case!
